We are thrilled to announce that Karen A. Macier has joined the National Women’s Hall of Fame as our Interim Director. Karen has dedicated her career to helping non-profits become more effective, sustainable, and mission-driven. She brings extensive experience from esteemed organizations such as the Seneca Museum of Waterways & Industry, United Way of Cayuga County, and United Way of Seneca County. Her visionary leadership and proven track record in guiding organizations to navigate trends, collaborate, share resources, and achieve financial stability will be invaluable to us in the coming months.
Karen’s focus during her time with us will be on enhancing operational efficiency at the Museum, building the infrastructure needed for organizational growth, improving fundraising and donor relations, strategic planning, and assisting the Board in finding her successor.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Karen with us, and we are eager to see the positive impact she will make. You can learn more about Karen in a recent interview she did with WXXI alongside our Board President, Jean Kilbourne.
We are also delighted to introduce Nellie Ludemann, our new Museum and Community Relations Manager. Nellie joined us earlier this year and previously served as Executive Director of the Seneca Falls Historical Society. She is dedicated to delivering outstanding programming to both our physical and virtual supporters, and we are excited to see her contributions around the Hall! Please join us in welcoming Karen and Nellie!
In addition to these exciting leadership updates, we are pleased to announce our fall featured exhibit, Julie Thurber’s, Dirty Laundry and other women’s work, inspired by a vintage slip uncovered at a flea market. Displaying some 20 vintage undergarments, visitors will have the opportunity to touch and explore the unique stories of the women who might have worn each piece. The exhibit invites us to look to “our tightly laced past” and consider if we still have some societal issues or ‘dirty laundry’ to address. This compelling exhibit opens September 13th and will be available through the new year.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support and hope to see you at the Hall soon!
