Community Conversation

July 31 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

What’s a community conversation?  Time to talk with historian Joe Murphy of Humanities New York on what democracy means to you and your own reading of the two-page piece provided here by poet, essayist, librarian, feminist, and equal rights activist Audre Lorde. This conversation will also tap into museums’ role in building democracy, inclusion and equality.

Community conversations are part of the Voices and Votes traveling Smithsonian museum and the Museum Association of New York (MANY) “A New Agora for New York: Museums as Spaces for Democracy,” produced in partnership with Humanities New York (HNY)

Doors Open 6:00 pm (social time with light refreshments), conversation gets underway at 6:30 pm.

All are welcome for this free program, but RSVPs are requested here.
